I hope this finds you all safe and well. Our community was affected by Hurricane Ida, yet we know it could have been worse for so many, and we have compassion for those of the Bayou neighboring parishes. With the ongoing COVID pandemic and the hurricane, challenges still continue for many residents of our community.
As we sometimes may think "I can't imagine .... " or "______ could never happen to me or our family". Emergencies, disasters, loss of employment, illness, decision to fill a prescription or buy food, being on a fixed income, are realities for many. Even with careful planning and caution unforeseen situations arise. Our agency is the place many come to in their greatest time of need. Seniors, Veterans, grandparents raising their grandchildren face food securities right here in our community.
As a mom, I think sometimes "cannot imagine my hungry child going without food" a basic need. What a challenging situation for parents to deal with. Many are aware of school-aged children on the reduced meal programs at school. Too many go to bed hungry, weekends, summertime and when school is out- lacking food much less good nutrition. Some churches seek resources for a backpack program on Fridays knowing children will be hungry until their return to school.
Our food pantry program is a primary service at CCC. It was our joy to serve over 300 families (the past few weeks alone). The program truly takes a village of resources, hands and feet, financial support, and a good solid system for service delivery. We've had empty shelves and freezers as of recently, yet we lean on faith that with the SM members' generous, heartfelt, giving, if CCC is selected to receive a gift of support, it would impact our community greatly. We could keep our shelves stocked, fill up our refrigerators with healthy foods, and serve families most in need.
Please see the attachments of our agency's history, mission and request for support currently needed.
Thank you Steele Mimosa's for what you do, and for an opportunity for us to share our mission, community work and current needs.

Community Christian Concern
History and Mission
Community Christian Concern was founded in 1983 becoming a non-profit organization in efforts to help individuals and families with true needs—urgent problems requiring immediate, short-term solutions often as basic emergency needs in the form of food, clothing, sheltering, prescription assistance, emergency travel, and counseling services.
Years later, a transitional housing program was developed for families, which now is for single, working men. Today, much the same, we assist those most in need such as Seniors, Veterans, the disabled, homeless persons and families, and a growing number of single parent families and grandparents raising grandchildren.
We have a food pantry, thrift store, and operate a transitional housing program for men at our facility, giving opportunities for the homeless to use as a stepping stone to more permanent housing in the community upon leaving our program.
The mission of our organization is: Touching one life at a time by providing compassion, guidance, and basic necessities to those in crisis.
Our vision is to be able to meet needs, inspire self-sufficiency, and build a stronger community.
Our core values are:
Compassion- We’re building a bridge of hope by walking alongside each individual.
Dignity- We recognize that each person has sacred value and worth.
Stewardship- We commit to using all that is entrusted to us wisely and with accountability.
Community Collaboration- We believe that we are more effective by partnering with other community organizations and sharing ideas, strategies, and resources.
We operate under a board of directors of varying backgrounds of those in our community.
Annually, we serve about 6100 people- seniors, chronic impoverished, those disabled, veterans, and many single parent/grandparents raising grandchildren. We are a volunteer organization, known in the community for "doing more with less" for services, and use of resources, believing in the importance of being good stewards of all that is given our agency- volunteering of one's time, financial gifts of support and all goods donated. We feel it is a blessing to serve those most in need and serve all based on needs and household income. All people we serve are treated equally without discrimination based on race, age, gender, culture, religion, or family origin.
